Typical Causes
A dead ice maker most often traces to a frozen or clogged fill tube, a weak or failed water inlet valve, or a burned-out ice maker module. Slow or hollow cubes usually mean the valve is delivering too little water per cycle, or supply pressure is low. On standalone machines, a fouled water sensor, a scaled-up evaporator plate, or a drain pump failure is common. Leaks generally come from a cracked fill cup, a loose supply fitting, or a blocked drain that backs up.

Turn Off the Supply If It Is Leaking
If water is pooling under an ice maker, close the local shutoff valve to the unit to prevent floor and cabinet damage while you wait for service. Do not chip fused ice out with metal tools, which can puncture the fill system.
