Columns and Freestanding Units
Thermador refrigeration includes freestanding units and the Freedom columns, which are separate refrigerator and freezer towers. On a column, a warm refrigerator and a cold freezer are two different appliances, so the fault is isolated to whichever tower is warm, which actually simplifies diagnosis.
As with any built-in, the first thing to rule out is a clogged condenser, which prevents the unit from shedding heat and is a leading cause of a fridge that runs but stays warm.
Fans, Defrost, and Sensors
If the condenser is clean and the unit is still warm, the next suspects are the condenser fan, the evaporator fan that moves cold air into the cabinet, a defrost heater or thermostat that has let the coil ice over, or a thermistor feeding the control a wrong temperature. Each is a component repair on a sound unit.
We diagnose which tower or section is affected, test the fans and defrost components, and check the sensors before drawing any conclusion about the sealed system.
