What F11 Is Telling You
F11 appears when the control expects the tub to drain and the water does not leave fast enough. The machine is protecting itself and your kitchen by stopping rather than continuing with standing water. It is a drainage fault first and foremost, so the diagnosis follows the water's path out of the machine.
That path is: the filter at the bottom of the tub, the drain pump, the drain hose, and, in many installations, an air gap or a disposer connection at the sink.
Working the Drain Path
Begin with the filter, since a clogged fine filter is the most common cause and the easiest to clear; pull it, rinse it, and clear any debris in the sump. Next check the drain hose for kinks and the air gap or disposer connection for clogs, which are frequent culprits, especially if a disposer was recently used and its knockout plug was never removed on a new install. If those are clear and F11 returns, the drain pump itself may be jammed or failing.
Clearing the filter and hose resolves many F11 cases. A code that returns after those checks points to the pump or a control issue and should be diagnosed.
Cause Reference
| Check | Cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Filter | Clogged fine filter | Clean filter and sump |
| Drain hose | Kinked or blocked | Straighten or clear hose |
| Air gap / disposer | Clog or unremoved plug | Clear connection |
| Drain pump | Jammed or failing | Test and service pump |
Clear the Filter Before Calling
Many F11 faults come down to a clogged filter or a blocked drain connection. Checking those first is quick and sometimes clears the code without a service call.
